This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following is from the artist:

Doris Anderson is a largely self-taught watercolourist. Born September 17, 1934 in Sandpoint, Idaho, she moved to Montana as a child. She has always been influenced by the land and even early artistic efforts were an attempt to share that love. She was married in 1955 to a wheat farmer and developed an even stronger feel for the land. During this time of raising four sons, art was in the background but never far away.

She has grown through workshops with well known instructors such as Judi Betts, Rex Brandt, Zoltan Zsabo and Joe Bohler and also from fellowship with an excellent group of artists in the Great Falls area. She paints the area she knows and lives in. Her home is located on the banks of the Missouri River near Cascade, Montana.

Subject material is largely landscapes but also fishermen, song birds, and a special love of white houses and red barns. The strong influence of the Lewis and Clark Expedition has made her favorite areas to paint, also of interest to
historians and collectors alike.

She has won numerous awards and has been an exhibitor at the C.M. Russell auction since 1984. She has been in the auction itself fourteen times and a quick draw artist four times. She has shown a number of times at the Classic-American Art show in Los Angeles. This show was held in the Beverly Hills Hilton for a number of years before moving to the Gene Autry Museum in Griffith Park.
