|  Charles Green Bush was born in Boston in 1842 and died in Camden, South Carolina in 1909. In 1877 he married Cora Chandler of Boston.
His father was the first American consul to Hong Kong. In 1860 he was entered as a cadet in the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, was poor in math and left to work as an illustrator for Harper's Magazine. A few years later he went to Paris to study. When he returned to the States he worked for the New York Herald. In 1897 he moved over to New York World.
