This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Born in Boston, he became a figure in New York City in the late 20th century contemporary art world, known for large-scale mod still life painting underpinned by wacky sense of humor.
The objects in his works are usually cheap toys or something found in the street such as discarded plastic bottles. He primes his canvases in the traditional way and then uses the subjects in a two-dimensional medium. He isolates each object with a hazy border of bright white and paints shadows to suggest sculptural depth. |
