|  Known for his African animals in landscape, he has traveled extensively in Africa from his home in Camano Island, Washington. He is committed to conservation and to seeing wildlife art move into the mainstream.

John Banovich grew up in Butte, Montana surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Rocky Mountains. At the age of seven he completed his first oil painting titled, " The Jungle Book Characters." The artist did not fully turn to painting until 1993; since that time he has found enormous commercial and artistic success as well as notable achievements in the areas of conservation. Banovich, who is known for his realistic paintings of exotic wild animals in their natural habitats travels to Africa and India to study the animals.
John Banovich's greatest contribution to wild life art may be his work as a conservationist. Each year the artist donates time and paintings to conservation efforts. His own organization , the Banovich Foundation, is devoted to supporting the needs of small groups. He hopes the organization will also be able to fund scholarships and educational programs for environmental concerns.
