Oscar Berger was born in Prešov in the former Czechoslovakia on 12th
May 1901. He won a scholarship to Berlin Art School and later
joined the staff of the largest daily newspaper in Berlin.
When Adolf Hitler gained power in Nazi Germany, Berger found work in
Prague. However, his cartoons upset Hitler and he was forced to flee
the country. After spells in Budapest and Paris, he arrived in
London in 1935 where he worked for the Daily Telegraph. He drew a se (showing 500 of 1405 characters). |
