| Born in Mississippi on July 21, 1843. After serving in the Civil War, Bush spent three years exploring Siberia and authored Reindeer, Does, and Snowshoes. He arrived in northern California in 1868 and was prominent in the art scene of San Francisco from that time. While a resident of Sausalito, he ferried daily to San Francisco where he worked as an officer at the Custom House, as a stationer with Edward Bosqui, and as a clerk in the U.S. Naval Office. Bush died in Sausalito, CA on March 19, (showing 500 of 944 characters). |
