Samuel Joseph Brown (b.1907, Wilmington, North Carolina; d. 1994, Philadephia, Pennsylvania)
A painter, printmaker, sculptor and teacher, he studied at the Pennsylvania Museum School of Industrial Art and at the Teachers' College of the University of Pennsylvania. He was employed by the Federal Art Project from 1933 to 1935, during which time he participated in many exhibitions. His painting So Tired (later renamed The Scrub Woman, now extant) was shown (showing 500 of 2849 characters). |
