| Benjamin Curtis worked in Boston as an ornamental painter from 1818-27. In 1822, he and his brother Samuel Curtis (a clock painter) joined with Charles Hubbard to form a one-year partnership as Curtis & Hubbard.
He worked in New York City as a sign painter and artist 1831 and 1841, in Philadelphia as an ornamental painter in 1845, and as an artist in 1860.
