Charles Hudson Cox was known as a landscape painter, historical painter, and illustrator and is credited with "having preserved for Texas many depictions of landscapes of historical interest." (Samuels 111) In addition, Cox was an art teacher. One of his projects was a series of illustrations of "Evangeline" by Longfellow.
Cox was born in Liverpool, England in 1829. He studied and later taught at the national Art Training-Schools of South Kensington, London. He later became a successful c (showing 500 of 1441 characters). |
