This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Author and illustrator of some of the first books to feature children of many races, she illustrated books including The Night Before Christmas.  She worked for Disney Studios,  and during her career, wrote and illustrated 45 others; the first two, Babies, and Baby Animals, sold by 1998, a combined 1.3 million copies. 

She also designed six postage stamps including a 32 cent yellow rose used in 1997.

Fujikawa lived both in New York City, and California where she attended the Chouinard Art Institute and worked for Walt Disney.

She died in December of 1998.

This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Berkeley, CA on Nov. 3, 1908.  By 1928 Fugikawa had settled in Los Angeles and was studying at Chouinard Art School. While there, her posters won several local contests.

By 1940 she had joined Walt Disney Productions.   By 1960 she had moved to NYC where she remained until her demise on Nov. 26, 1998.
