Biography from Manitou Galleries - Contemporary Artists:
| Kevin Fitzgerald was born in Washington D.C. in 1953. He began
painting and drawing at an early age, and as a teenager took classes at
the Corcoran School of Art.
Fitzgerald attended the Maryland Institute College of Art where he
studied with Raoul Middleman, Chairman of Painting, and then became his
studio assistant.
After receiving his B.F.A. from the Institute, Fitzgerald pursued his
M.F.A., under full fellowship, at George Washington University.
He cites 17th century Dutch landscape painters as influences but most
admires the 19th century Barbizon School painters who painted intimate,
romantic landscapes. |
