Marine painter. Born in Oswego, NY on Feb. 6, 1866. Artistically
inclined at an early age, Grant painted his first seascape when he was
eight. His art training began at the National Academy of Design
in his early teens and continued in the studios of Seymour J. Guy and
M. F. H. DeHaas.
The desire to paint the Pacific Ocean brought him to California in
1912. He elected to remain and was a resident of San Francisco
