This biography from the Archives of AskART:
David Kenneth Gordon attended the High School of Music and Art in Manhattan, Cooper Union in New York City and Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan.

After serving in the Korean War Gordon returned home and took a job in commercial art to support himself. He applied his aesthetics of design to his work and became very successful. He started his own company whose clients included Martha Stewart Living, The Wall Street Journal, Sotheby's and Time Warner.

David Kenneth Gordon eventually realized that he still had the desire to paint and found the skills he had developed as a designer served him well in his painting. In 2000 he showed his work to a gallery and received a good response and in 2001 he had his first New York gallery exhibition.

Gordon paints mostly still lifes in pastel though he will do an occasional portrait or landscape. He enjoys the arranging of objects and the relationship the pieces have with each other. He wants the viewer to be compelled to spend more time with the painting.
