David Kenneth Gordon attended the High School of Music and Art in Manhattan, Cooper Union in New York City and Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan.
After serving in the Korean War Gordon returned home and took a job in commercial art to support himself. He applied his aesthetics of design to his work and became very successful. He started his own company whose clients included Martha Stewart Living, The Wall Street Journal, Sotheby's and Time Warner.
