| The following information was submitted December 2011 by Geoff Gardner, husband of the artist.
Born in London, Jennifer Gardner, PSA is a
self-taught artist who works and lives in Sarasota, Florida and is a
juried signature member of the Pastel Society of America. Jennifer
developed an interest in art in her early childhood,
although her first career, which she began in England, was of being a
lawyer, which she gave up in 1999 to pursue her art on a full-time
basis.
An avid traveler, Gardner photographs landscapes, which she
later paints in her studio in Florida. Her work has
become increasingly abstract over time and has developed as she has
added watercolor and gouache media to her abstract work.
Gardner also paints simple landscapes with dramatic color using pastels.
Gardner's technique is to use short strong stokes, scribbles and dabs
of color in which she works to portray energy, contrast, and vibrancy.
The artist exhibits regularly and was most recently awarded first place
in the abstract category in the Annual Artist's Magazine competition and
the Art Spirit Foundation/Dianne B. Bernhard Gold Award for Excellence
by The Pastel Journal.
