| | Born of American parents in Nice, France on March 17, 1863. Educated in Europe, Hall was fluent in English, French, Italian and Spanish. After arriving in California, he was active in Santa Barbara where he painted figures and genre until 1889. Settling in San Francisco, he lived at the Pacific Union Club and had an office in the Parrott Building. A well-known cosmopolite, he served as consul-general to Turkey and Persia. his leisure he painted landscapes of northern California; however, none of his paintings appear to be extant. Exh: Calif. State Fair, 1887; Mechanics' Inst.
