George H Hughes was born in Paris France in 1863, at the time of the American Civil War (1861-1865), one of the most violent uprisings in American history.
Hughes grew up in the U.S. and as he matured, his desire to become a proficient artist evolved, and before 1900 he made the decision to cross the Atlantic Ocean with the intent to study art. He studied at the Academy Julian Paris under Professor J.P. Laurens, (1838-1921) and with famous academic painter Leon Bonnet (1833-1922).&nbs (showing 500 of 2157 characters). |
