The following information was submitted in September of 2006 by Charles E. Bryan Jr./ Norman T. Stephens: Born to a Comanche mother and a white father, Rance Hood spent most of his early years with his maternal grandparents, who raised him in their traditional native American way. Entering elementary school, he did not know how to speak English.
