| Bill James was born in a small town near Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He met his wife, Jo Ann while attending Syracuse University. He earned a degree in Fine Arts and the couple moved first to Washington, DC and eventually Florida where they still live today.
Bill James first worked as an illustrator where he developed his techniques and worked with many different media. Today he works primarily in pastel and paints landscapes and figures in landscapes. His work is noted for his strong use of complimentary colors.
Bill James is Master Pastelist with the Pastel Society of America. He is also a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society and Knickerbocker Artists.
