Diana Kan was born in Hong Kong and began her art studies there with Chang Dai Chien. She also attended the Art Students League in New York and the Beaux Arts in Paris.

Kan's paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally since she was nine. Her work can also be seen in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, and The Atkins Museum in Kansas City and The National Historical Museum in Taiwan.

The artist was a director of the American Watercolor Society and the Pen and Brush. She is also a member of the Salmagundi Club and the Allied Artists of America. Kan authored the book, "How and Why of Chinese Painting."
