This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Pop artist Karen Kilimnik was born in 1962 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she now lives.  She graduated in 1976 from Temple University in that city.

Her interests and subject matter are eclectic, varying from Tsarist Russia, classical ballet and the Gothic, to today's pop stars, glamour magazines, television soap operas, Sharon Tate, Leonardo di Caprio, Kate Moss, Hugh Grant, Elizabeth Taylor, and the world of fairies and fairy tales.  Her work ranges from early "scatter piece" installations and historical fantasy drawings, to flower paintings, sculptures and photographs.

Kilimnik was commissioned to do the official drawings for The Armory Show 2002 - The International Fair of New Art on Piers 88 and 90 in New York City.

In 2002, Moore College, Philadelphia, presented an exhibition of an unusual combination of three women artists, Mary Cassatt, Alice Neel and Karen Kilimnik. The catalog of the show contained essays by cultural theorist Jeanne Randolph, feminist-artist-writer Mira Schor, and philosopher Maureen Sherlock. Another recent exhibition of Kilimnik's work was held at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, in 2002-2003.
