Print artist Evan Lindquist has lived in Jonesboro, Arkansas, since 1963 where, from that time, he has been Professor of Art at Arkansas State University. His creative work explores the medium of burnt engraving for intaglio printing. Other printmaking media include etching, drypoint woodcut, and wood engraving.

He was named Outstanding Faculty Member at ASU and made first chairman of the President's Fellows. His teaching includes courses in Printmaking, Drawing, Honors courses, and others at various times. Lindquist served as director of Arkansas State University Art Gallery 1970-1980 and was the Exhibition Director of the Delta National Small Prints exhibitions in 1996 and 1997. From 1958 to 1960, he was staff artist at Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas, 1958-60.

He was born in Salina, Kansas, and graduated in 1963 from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, with a Master of Fine Arts degree. He did his undergraduate work at Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education with Honors, 1958.

He has been in more than fifty solo exhibitions and one hundred invitational group exhibitions. Recent solo exhibitions have been at University of Iowa, Iowa City,1995; William Rainey Harper College, Palatine, Illinois, 1996; Northwestern College, Orange City, Iowa, 1997; Arts Center of the Ozarks, Springdale, Arkansas, 1998.

His prints have been included in more than 200 juried exhibitions and have received more than 60 awards, including: Boston Printmakers, Potsdam State University, San Diego State University, Hunterdon Art Center, Silvermine Guild of Artists, Montgomery Museum of Art.

Lindquist was born May 23, 1936 in Salina, Kansas.  Graduated from Emporia State Univ. in 1958 and earned a MFA from the Univ. of Iowa, Iowa City in 1963 under Mauricio Lasansky. Worked as a staff artist at Emporia State Univ. from 1958-60.  Taught art at Arkansas State Univ. in Jonesboro beginning in 1963 and also served as director of the Arkansas State Univ. Art Gallery from 1970-80.  Retired from teaching in 2003.

Exhibitions: Arkansas State Univ., 1964, 1968; Brooks Memorial Art Gallery, 1970; Missouri State Council on the Arts, 1973; Arkansas Arts Center, 1980; Univ. of Iowa, 1995; William Rainey Harper College, 1996; Northwestern College, 1997; Arts Center of the Ozarks, 1998.

Awards: Lifetime Achievement Award, Arkansas Arts Council, 2004.
