| Mell Lazarus (born May 3, 1927) is a cartoonist and creator of two comic strips, Miss Peach (1957-2002) and Momma (1970-present).
Early in his career he was an apprentice cartoonist working for Al Capp and his brother Elliott Caplin at the Capp family-owned Toby Press, which published Al Capp's Shmoo Comics, among other titles. He is the author of two novels, The Boss Is Crazy, Too (inspired in part by his experiences with Capp) and The Neighborhood Watch.
He served as President of the National Cartoonists Society (which awards the Reuben) for two consecutive terms from 1989 to 1993.
He won the National Cartoonists Society Humor Comic Strip Award for 1973 and 1979, and their Reuben Award for Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year in 1981 for his work on Miss Peach.
Lazarus is a member of Mensa.
