| A still life, marine, and landscape painter in a realistic style, Sarah Lamb is a member of the Water Street Atelier in New York, a group of painters mentored by Jacob Collins. This training is academic in the European style, beginning with basic drawing and working with plaster casts. Lamb was among the initial group of Collins' students and started when she was age 29.
She spent her childhood in Georgia and studied at Brenau Women's College in Gainesville, Georgia. She was a commercial artist, spent a junior year studying in Italy, and became affiliated with Jacob Collins after attending a two-week portrait painting workshop by him in Santa Fe, New Mexico. |
