This biography from the Archives of AskART:
A painter, and etcher* of landscapes, figures, cityscapes and animals and book illustrator, Josef Nuyttens was a native of Belgium, where he studied at the Antwerp Royal Academy.  He continued his art education in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux Arts*.  By 1905, he was exhibiting his work in Belgium.  "By the end of the First World War (1918), he had emerged as one of Belgium's leading artists and received the bronze medal from the Queen of Belgium as well as the Chevalier of the Order of Leoopold II." (artoftheprint)

In the mid 1920s, Nuyttens moved to the United States, first living in New York and then settling in Chicago, where he studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago*.

In 1911 and 1912, before immigrating to America, he illustrated four books by Oz book author L. Frank Baum:  The Flying Girl and its sequel, The Flying Girl and Her Chum, Phoebe Daring, and Annabel, second edition.  Nuyttens also illustrated Kenny by Leona Dalrymple.

His mediums were oil, watercolor, pastel and etching.  Many of his works were destroyed in Chicago in a house fire in which he lost his life in 1960.

This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following is from Linda Stakley who writes: "Please note the misspellings are deliberate since it reflects the bio."

I have two original signed Pierre Nuyttens etchings both limited editions.  One is #8 of 100 of Trafalger Square, London.  The other is The Old Straud London 1830. On the back of each of these is his picture with the following bio that I thought you might like to include.

"This is a genuine Pierre Nyttens etching (not a reproduction) executed by hand on his own etching press, and signed by the artist.  It truly is a collector's item.

Pierre Nyttens is internationally recognized as one of the world's most gifted and versatile living artists, displaying genius in every medium (water color, oil, pen and ink, and sculpture.  But first of all, Pierre Nuyttens is without equal in dry point etchings, and his works are prized the world over by museums and collectors.

The range of Nuyttens' subjects appears unlimited--landscapes, mariens, character studies, animals--while his portraits are so outstanding that he is often caled the "official etcher of Presidents and Notables."

He has made portrait etchings of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Warren Harding, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt.  Many notables too--Kings, Queens, actors of stage and screen, industrialists and society people have sat for him here and abroad.  His portraits of Edison, Lipton and Irene Castle, among others, are particularly renowned.

Since Pierre Nuyttens reached 16 years of age (when he won first prize award at the Royal Academy of Art at Antwerp) his etchings have hung in prominent galleries the world over, among them the Washington Congressional Library and War Museum of Brussels. Foremost art dealers in the world all display Nuyttens' etchings.

So many sided is Nuyttens' genius that he is also renowned as an author of novels, and he has received many awards for both art and literary work.  Among other awards it is interesting to note that Pierre Nuyttens is a Chevalier Knight in the Order of Leopold the Second, having been decorated by the greatly loved late King Albert of Belgium. National Arts Guild, Chicago, Ill."
