Painter William Palmer's early works are recognizable by their realistic, regional themes characteristic of the 1930s. In 1939, he completed several murals under the Works Project Administration Fine Arts Project. His paintings were dominated with the landscape and changing seasons of upper New York State. Later these landscapes exhibit small, flat planes of color intersected by areas of light.
Palmer was educated at the Art Students League, New York City, and the Ecole des Beaux Arts, P (showing 500 of 1663 characters). |
