Stephen Quillar was born in Osmond, Nebraska in 1946. He was raised in Colorado and attended Colorado State University on a Creative Fine Arts Scholarship.
Quillar taught in Secondary schools in California and Oregon returning to Colorado in the summers to work on his painting. He eventually opened a gallery with his wife in the town of Creede, Colorado. Quillar continues to paint the beautiful Colorado scenery.
The watercolorist has exhibited and won awards regionally and nationally. Quillar is a member of the Watercolor of the West, Watercolor Society of Alabama, and Southwestern Watercolor Society.
