This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Edwardsville, IL on April 26, 1862. Robinson was educated at Washington University and the St Louis School of Arts. By the early 1930s he had settled in Morro Bay, CA and was art director of the local WPA Recreation Center. Robinson died in Morro Bay on May 19, 1945. As a hobby, he also did woodcarving and art metal work. Member: Calif. WC Society; AAPL. Exh: Louisiana Purchase Expo (St Louis), 1904; Calif. State Fairs; Calif. WC Society, 1932.

Biography from ArtSanDiego:
Charles Robinson was born in Edwardsville, Illinois on April 26, 1862. He was educated at Washington University and the St. Louis School of Arts. He was a member of the American Artists Professional League and the California Watercolor Society. He was known for his landscape and seascape watercolors of the California coast.

By the early 1930's he had settled in Morro Bay. California. There he was the Art Director of the local WPA projects. His work was exhibited locally on the Central California coast, the California State Fairs, and the St. Louis Exposition.

He was a well like character in the Morro Bay area. With his long white beard he was the perfect Santa Claus for the children at Morro Bay Elementary School. He died in Morro Bay, California on May 19, 1945. He is buried in the Cuyucos-Morro Bay Cemetary.
