Francis Drexel Smith was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 11, 1874. Studied at the Art Institute Chicago and the Broadmoor Art Academy with John Vanderpoel, John Carlson, Everett Warner. Addresses include (in 1953) 531 North Cascade Ave., Colorado Springs, CO.

Memberships include: Denver Art Association, Mississippi Art Association, Chicago Galleries Assn., New Orleans AA, Dubuque, Iowa AA.

Works included in the: Kansas City Art Institute; Denver Art Museum; Vanderpoel Collection; Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center; Dubuque Art Association; Art Institute of Chicago; Hellhaver Collection, Jackson, Mississippi; Museum of Fine Arts, Montgomery, Alabama; Grinnell College, Mississippi State College for Women.

Exhibited at: Carnegie Institute, 1921.1929,1930; National Academy of Design 1922; Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts 1932, 1934; Art Institute of Chicago 1931; Denver Art Museum; Oakland Art Galleries; Portland, Oregon Art Museum; New Haven, Connecticut; Buffalo, New York; New Orleans Art Association; Palm Beach, Florida, and Kansas City Art Institute.
