Robert Shaw was a local self-taught artist in Delaware, often described as a modest and unassuming man. Although not well-known today, during his lifetime Shaw and his art were valued by the local public, and his etchings were known nationally.
He drew and painted in meticulous detail the familiar sights of Delaware, and his works were found in homes, schools, and professional offices. Historians today are grateful for Shaw's accurate renderings, turning to them for pictorial evidenc (showing 500 of 947 characters). |
