Submitted by Robert Stack

Born in West Chester, PA in 1961, Robert Stack grew up in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania and has lived in the area off and on for many years.  From an early age he was encouraged to develop his talents.  In 1985, he graduated of from the Tyler School of art at Temple University, PA.

Primarily a watercolorist, Stack does painting depicting a variety of subjects such as views of his surroundings, wildlife, equestrian, and Civil War subjects.

A large number of Stack's equestrian works have been available in print for some time.  He used horses initial as models, going to local farms and horse shows to sketch them.  Horses soon became an important subject in his work as well as a hobby and at times an occupation.

Stack's equestrian works have appeared on many Devon Horse Show posters.  In 1995, the American Academy of Equine Art awarded him the Ruth E. Robins award for watercolor for his gouache painting of a Devon sidesaddle class titled Line Up.

His Civil War pieces have been inspired by the time he spends at reenactments, as a participant, at times portraying the Civil War artist/correspondent William Waud.

Robert has also done etched glass design, illustration and commissioned work.  His work can be found in gallery, private, and corporate collections throughout the US and abroad.
