This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| With studios in Manhattan and Bayside, New York, Charles Lennox Wright II was born in Boston as the son of Charles Lennox Wright (1852-1901). He was a landscape painter, and his locations included Monhegan Island in Maine, Shinnecock Hills in New York, and other beaches along Long Island. At Shinnecock, he studied with William Merritt Chase at his summer school. Wright also painted many portraits of his family members and was an illustrator of movie posters for RKO.
He lived in Bayside Long Island, New York and at age 15, he went to Paris and studied art for several years. He was a student at the Art Students League of New York and also studied in Paris with Dagnan-Bouveret.
Charles Lennox Wright II did not wish to be known as Junior so he used the Roman numerals II after his name, so that he has that designation and his father has the numeral I.
Submitted January by Holly Carter Clark, granddaughter of the artist.
