| David Wiesner was born in Bridgewater, New Jersey and attended the Rhode Island School of Design were he earned a degree in illustration. Wiesner was awarded a Caldecott Medal in 1992 for "Tuesday" a book he wrote and illustrated. He was also awarded a Caldecott Honor for "Freefall" in 1989.
