She was born Corinne West in 1908 in Chicago, Il. She died in her New York studio in 1991.

By the late 1930's she adapted the name Mikael West, which by 1941 became Michael West, and sometimes used Michelle West or Michelle Lee (her ex-husbands last name).

It is one of the mysterious mystical veils she adorned.

Arshile Gorky thought Corinne sounded like a debutante. It is unclear how s (showing 500 of 726 characters).
