The following is from Nancy Eyre Grodin-Bender, grand daughter of the artist and from Forest Hills, New York:
Walter Buckingham Swan was born in Boston on July 13, 1871. He showed his first interest in painting when he was ten years old. His family summered at Gloucester, and the New England Coast area was the subject of many of his paintings.
He studied at the Lowell School of Design and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and was tutored by Edmond Winchester Kingsbury. He spent the s (showing 500 of 969 characters). |
