| A painter and printmaker, Terry Schoonhoven became a well-known muralist after co founding the Los Angeles Fine Arts Squad in 1969. He painted over 40 murals during his career, usually as corporate commissions and public art projects under civic percent-for-art programs.
One of his most famous murals is "Isle of California," (1970-72), painted on the exterior of a four-story West Los Angeles building for food-company heir Geordie Hormel. Schoonhoven also completed murals in Minneapolis, St. Louis, and Texas.
He died of cancer in 2002. |
