Born in Toledo, Ohio, he received an MFA from the University of Wisconsin. From 1967-69, he was Professor of Painting and Drawing at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and from 1969-76 was Associate Professor at the Louisville Art Center in Kentucky. He resides in Champaign, Illinois.
