| Known for her paintings of animals, especially horses, Marie Newcomb traveled in Algeria and into the Sahara Desert, where she took a special interest in the Arabs and their horses. She was also an illustrator and exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy, the National Academy, and the Paris Salon.
Her studio was in New York City.
