Note: Working in a studio that looks out over the Blue Ridge Mountains, Gilroy Roberts is part of an American renaissance of gemstone carving. It is a sculptural art form that developed in ancient China with carved jade. He is especially interested in hawks and eagles. He is a graduate in philosophy from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and made the transition to stone from wood carving.
