This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| | Born near Alameda, New Mexico, he has spent most of his life within a few miles of his birthplace. His studio is in a 1918 adobe building near the Sandia Reservation. As an Anglo child, he was in the minority growing up in that area. He took a special interest in Lakota Indian culture and has become close to many of those tribal leaders. He feels he is conscious of a special sense of past events, times and people. Although he intends his paintings to have universal meaning, many of them are full of Plains Indians symbols and metaphors. He is a rider of motorcyles, referring to them as "horses of the 20th century". |
