S., arriving in 1807. They traveled extensively , and she sketched with watercolors, leaving a valuable historical record of early 19th century American life. In 1814, when Napolean was overthrown, they returned to France and then returned to the U.S. living in Washington D.C. for six years when he was appointed French Minister to the United States. |
