|  Painting from a studio in a garret of a restored 19th century cottage near the French Quarter in New Orleans, Simon Gunning creates landscapes and marine paintings that reflect his environment. He also paints still lifes and does collages, wash sketches, and nudes.
He frequently has one-man exhibitions and for each, carefully selects a theme such as the river, or nudes, or bayou landscapes because he thinks it is a mistake to throw too much variety at the viewer.
Gunning was born in Sydney, Australia and attended the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne before coming to the United States. |
