A painter, photographer, and writer, Joseph Crilley specializes in painting marine and street scenes of New Hope, Pennsylvania where he lived from 1948 to 1980. Before specializing in these subjects, he was a trompe l'oeil still-life painter and worked as a commercial photographer.
Crilley's photographs have been published in national magazines including Time-Life publications. From 1955 to 1961, he headed the art department in New Hope at the Solebury High School.
