A painter in Cubist style who studied in Paris with Albert Gleizes, Lucy L'Engle was born in New York City to affluent parents. Her father, Charles Stelle, was a successful real estate professional, and her mother, Lucy Barnes Brown, was, in 1893, the first women's champion of the American Professional Golf Association.
Lucy L'Engle studied at the Art Students League with George Bridgman, and then went to Paris where she met artist William L'Engle. They married in 1914, had a (showing 500 of 2588 characters). |
