| Nannie Carver Huddle, painter and sculptor, was most likely the first person to have painted wildflowers and bluebonnets in Texas. She was born in Mobile, Alabama in 1860, the third of six daughters of Leonora (Moss) and Benjamin Franklin Carver. When she was a young girl her family moved to Austin, where she attended St. Mary's Academy. There she received her first art lessons from a nun who arranged for her work to be critiqued by William Henry Huddle, a painter of historical scenes and portra (showing 500 of 5253 characters). |
