An instructor at Newcomb School of Art in New Orleans from 1900 to 1939, Marie Roman was born at St. James Parish, Louisiana. She studied art at Newcomb College from 1895 to 1901 and there was a member of the first class in pottery decoration. S he joined the faculty immediately after graduation. She was also a student of Arthur Dow in Ipswich, Massachusetts; John Carlsen in Woodstock, New York; and with Julien Towdonze in Paris.
She was a member of the Artists Association of New Or (showing 500 of 789 characters). |
