John Rollins Tilton was born in Merrimack, New Hampshire on June 28, 1828. He was the son of Daniel Tilton, 1787 and Sarah Clough, 1793. John Rollin Tilton died March 22, 1888 in Rome, Italy. He was a known artist in New York and Italy for his oil paintings of landscape, structure, marine, genre (human activity) artistry.
