Born in Chapman, Nebraska, Gladys Lux became a key person in the art department of Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln.
She graduated from Wood River High School and took her formal art education at Kearney State College, the University of Nebraska, and the Art Institute of Chicago. She then became an art teacher at Wesleyan University and exhibited her work throughout the United States including Rockefeller Center in New York.
