| | Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1813. As the surgeon on the U.S.Peacock, Guillou sketched while exploring the West Coast in the 1840s. (His Oregon and California Drawings, 1841 and 1847 was published by the Book Club of California in 1961.) In 1853 he became head of the Marine Hospital in Honolulu.
