| Painter, quilter, sculptor and film maker, she was the first living female artist to be given a solo exhibition at the National Gallery of Canada. In 1971, she used this occasion to exhibit her legendary quilts quoting Pierre Trudeau's famous motto, "Reason Over Passion." In 1987, she was the first living woman artist to have a retrospective at the Art Gallery of Ontario. She died in a Toronto nursing home of Alzheimer's Disease. |
