| Watercolorist. Born in Visalia, CA on Dec. 20, 1908. Amyx originally meant to pursue a career as a musician. He worked his way through college as a drummer in the pit orchestra of a silent movie house. After graduating from San Jose State College in 1931, he settled on an art career. He then studied at the CCAC, UC Berkeley, and received an M.A. degree from Claremont Graduate School in 1941.
